Giacosa Fratelli Barbaresco 2020 Wine Review

Giacosa Fratelli Barbaresco 2020

Right after opening, gentle aromas of raspberry, plum, and cherry rise beautifully.

After a brief pause, the nose deepens into black pepper, dark ink, and violet blossoms.

On the palate, those red fruit notes translate gracefully from the nose — elegant and soft.

After about 30 minutes, meaty tones emerge alongside hints of fallen leaves, leather, pine, and cedar.

Despite these earthy layers, the acidity remains balanced and the tannins are quite mild.

The wine feels crystal-clear and silky.

Delicate in texture and expression.

It fills the mouth with red fruits and floral notes — yet beneath them lie faint traces of black pepper and violet.

Bright acidity, refinement, and fine, overlapping layers capture everything you’d expect from a classic Piedmont wine.

Rather than showing one dominant character, it feels round, even, and harmonious — something almost anyone could enjoy without preference.

Best consumed within about an hour after opening, without separate decanting.

After two hours, it seemed to lose some of its strength and tension.
