Morra Gabriele Barbaresco 2020 Wine Review

Morra Gabriele Barbaresco 2020

It’s much better about 30 minutes after opening than right away. About 45 minutes in, someone summed it up:

“Comfortable and ordinary, but perfect.”

Dried chili, under-ripe plum, black pepper, and ink aromas.

Meaty notes. Salami, young rose, and eucalyptus.

All these aromas are very subtle and well-balanced.

“I hope the wine opens up more.”

A wine that makes you look forward to how it will develop with breathing.

First sip.
Why is this wine so nice clear?

It’s like pomegranate juice with rose petals floating in it. Very light and delicate.

A hint of rose water with a touch of raspberry juice. Slightly under-ripe plum also comes to mind.

Very light and delicate.

Then comes pepper, ink, and violet. Meaty and inky notes blend in an intriguing way.

In the empty glass, raspberry and wild strawberry aromas linger.

A hint of pork skin collagen—the meaty note becomes fresher.

After 30 minutes, the aroma becomes a bit sweeter.

Red apple peel, apple mint herb, and rose vine.

The taste you get when you inhale and the taste you get when you exhale are different.

Comfortable and ordinary, but perfect.

Delicious. Enjoyed over about two hours after opening.
There’s no doubt it’s a good wine. But that’s it—it doesn’t change much, just keeps its completeness from start to finish.
